Maren + Andrew

Snowflakes and Vows: AN Intimate Snowstorm Wedding at Nita Lake Lodge

Capturing Maren and Andrew’s intimate wedding during a snowstorm at Nita Lake Lodge was nothing short of magical. Their decision to hold their outdoor ceremony on the patio, despite the swirling snow, made the day feel like a winter fairytale. It was a moment where nature, love, and emotion came together in perfect harmony, creating an unforgettable scene that I was fortunate enough to witness and capture.

The Setting: A Winter Wonderland on the Patio

Nita Lake Lodge is known for its peaceful, lakeside charm, but on Maren and Andrew’s wedding day, the snowstorm transformed it into a dreamlike winter wonderland. As the snow began to fall, it blanketed everything in soft white, turning the patio into an intimate, almost surreal space for their ceremony.

From the moment I arrived, I could tell this was going to be a special day. The heavy snowfall didn’t detract from the beauty—in fact, it amplified it. The storm made the world beyond the lodge feel distant, as if it was just Maren, Andrew, their closest loved ones, and the quietly falling snow.

They were determined to have their ceremony outdoors, no matter the weather, and I’m so glad they did. The snowflakes that clung to Maren’s hair only added to the magic of the moment. Every glance they exchanged, every laugh shared, felt even more intimate as the snow softly fell around them.

The Ceremony: Vows in the Snow

The ceremony on the snow-covered patio was absolutely stunning. Guests were bundled in coats and scarves, their faces glowing with excitement as they watched Maren and Andrew commit their lives to one another.

From where I stood behind my camera, the falling snow created a soft, ethereal atmosphere. I could see the flakes gently landing on their shoulders as they exchanged vows, the quiet of the snowstorm making the moment feel even more profound. The contrast of Maren’s white dress against the wintery backdrop made every image feel timeless, and the way Andrew looked at her—like she was the only person in the world—was something I’ll never forget.

After the Ceremony: A Moment of Solitude in the Snow

Following the ceremony, I stole Maren and Andrew away for a few private photos near the lake and on the train bridge. The snowstorm had intensified by then, and the world felt completely still around us, providing the perfect setting for some of my favourite shots of the day.

With the snow falling heavier, they shared a quiet moment on the valley trail by the lake, wrapped in each other’s arms. The storm created a cocoon around them, making them look like they were the only two people in the world. One of the most striking images from the day was of Maren and Andrew standing together, the snow falling around them as they leaned in for a kiss.

Weddings like this remind me that sometimes the most unexpected circumstances lead to the most unforgettable moments. Maren and Andrew’s snowstorm wedding was a perfect example of love triumphing over everything—including the elements. It was a true honor to capture their day, and I know the images will forever remind them of the magic of their snow-filled vows at Nita Lake Lodge.
